BIG MAN, small man

Oh you are such a big man!

So big and so full —

Of yourself, so full —

That you are spilling over

And filling me,

Filling me up.

And now I’m full, so full

I was empty and now I’m so full

Of you.

But you are just a small man now —

I look down and see your scalp

A little boy, on the cusp of youth;

And I am an old woman —

So, so old and you are so little.

Are you a man, really?

Or just an allegory?
